The webservices of ICES contains data for 25 surveys extending from 1965 to 2020. These surveys have different spatial and temporal extent but are mainly focused in North-Eartern Atlantic. In total, it is 96636 hauls that are available to users.

These data allow to evaluate the richness of marine environment using scientific cruises. These surveys give an insight on biological communities and populations' dynamics as it measures the size and weight for some species.
The biological classification analysis performs a hierarchical cluster computation of the larger species group encounters in the most found survey in the chosen area. These species groups are:

  • All non-chordate species (mainly benthic life)
  • Elasmobranchs (skates, rays and sharks)
  • The fish orders (taxonomical meaning) occurring more than 100 times.
