Recreational fishing
Short description
Recreational fishing yearly catches of cod 2011-2016 based on the reports of ICES Working Group on Recreational Fisheries Surveys (WGRFS). Recreational fishing is the capture or attempted capture of living aquatic resources mainly for leisure and/or personal consumption. This covers active fishing methods including line, spear, and hand–gathering and passive fishing methods including nets, traps, pots, and set–lines (considered recreational in some countries).

Lineage
Data was collected from ICES WGRFS recreational fisheries reports from 2011-2016 for cod. Data was rather patchy but averages were calculated based on available data for each countries (0s were excluded). Data was available as yearly catch (in tons) per country and values assigned to all the territorial waters. 2018: Data set was clipped to include areas that are included in the reporting Catch numbers for Sweden was corrected based on the input from Sweden.
